2017 Lincoln Continental

The 2017 Lincoln Continental — now in local showrooms — is not going to be mistaken for any other vehicle.

The new Continental comes with an attractive front grille, 20-inch alloy wheels and LED lighting. Where it really stands out though are the side-view mirrors mounted on platforms and unusual-looking door handles built right at window level.

“The Lincoln Continental has a style all its own,” says Parkside Ford Lincoln sales rep Eric Pollmann.

“There is no other luxury vehicle quite like it.”

The new model is available in a choice of three engine types — 3.7-litre Ti-VCT V-6 that produces 305 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, 2.7-L GTDI V-6 that puts out 335hp and 380 lb.-ft. of torque, and 3L GTDI V-6 that gets up to 400hp and 400 lb.-ft. of torque.

Inside, Pollmann points out a number of attractive features including 30-way power seats that can also provide massages, ambient lighting, rear centre console package that allows for heated and cooled rear seats, active noise cancellation and the new Revel Audio system with 19 speakers.

“There is tons of new technology in the new Continental,” Pollmann says, citing such features as advanced cruise control, lane departure warning, blind spot information system with cross traffic alert and 360 degree camera.

Thus far, Pollmann reports, only one model has come to Parkside’s showroom. “We have one more still to come,” he says.

The base price for the 2017 Lincoln Continental is $60,500 (plus freight and PDI) with the top of the line, fully-loaded model selling for $81,550.

“We have had quite a bit of interest in this new model,” Pollmann says. “There have been a lot of inquiries.”

Eric Pollmann is also new to Parkside Ford’s sales staff. Pollmann began his career in auto sales in 2005 selling Fords. He had recently taken some time off from the industry to spend time with his young family. He joined the Parkside sales team in late October and is looking forward to connecting with his former customers.

St. James Volkswagen introduces new Golf

St. James Volkswagen is inviting readers to the dealership on Century Street next Tuesday evening — from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. to test-drive the all-new 2017 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack and the all-new 2017 Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen.

Light refreshments and door prizes will be available and sales advisers will be on hand to point out the new vehicle’s new features. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Sales rep uses social media to find customers

Tech-savvy Mid-Town Ford Sales Ltd. sales rep John Nault is looking to social media to boost sales.

Eight months ago, Nault created his own Facebook page — facebook.com/carsfromjohn — to reach out to current and potential customers.

“Social media is really changing the way people do business,” he says. “My initial goal was to get to 800 likes. I am now close to 1,700.”

Nault also communicates with potential customers through texting and email. “I have also done some video presentation and YouTube videos,” he says.

“My presence on social media has certainly brought more people into our store,” he says. “And it’s not only millennials who are responding to my social media outreach. A good number of older adults are also tuning in.”

New general sales manager at Frontier Subaru

Joel Mazur is the new general sales manager at Frontier Subaru. He moved April to the Pembina Highway dealership from sister store Frontier Toyota.

Mazur has been with the Frontier Group – in his second goaround – for the past 10 years. He started his career with Frontier Toyota in 1987. “After so many years selling Toyotas, it was a bit of an adjustment,” Mazur says of his new role. “But it has been great being at Frontier Subaru. Subaru makes a great product.”

Mazur notes, until the end of November, Frontier Subaru and sister store Jim Pattison Subaru on Regent are giving away a $1,000 gift certificate with every vehicle sold to the new Save-On Foods grocery stores. (The promotion began on Nov. 12).

The connection between the grocery chain —  new to Winnipeg — and the Subaru stores is that both are part of the Vancouver-based Jim Pattison Group. The three new stores — at Northgate Shopping Centre in north Winnipeg, the former Future Shop location on St. James Street and the new Bridgewater Forest in southwest Winnipeg — officially opened last weekend.
