The 2017 Audi A4 is available in a choice of three trims and has a starting price of about $46,000.

According to St. James Audi sales manager Dan Hetherington, response to the newly-arrived 2017 Audi A4 has been fantastic. “This model is going to be a winner for us,” says Hetherington of the completely redesigned vehicle which made its debut at the dealership at the beginning of April. “We sold 10 A4s in just the first 10 days. Everyone who has test driven the A4 thought it was terrific.”

The 2017 A4 is powered by a turbocharged two-litre engine that puts out 252 horsepower. While the engine is the same as the previous A4 (although the horsepower is increased), new is a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. (Hetherington notes a manual transmission option will be available later in the year.) A significant reduction in weight makes this new model quicker than its predecessor. And, of course, most models come with Audi’s patented Quattro AWD.

“There is a lot of new technology in the 2017 A4,” Hetherington says. That tech includes the Virtual Cockpit instrument cluster that includes Bluetooth, 30-hue ambient lighting, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto functionality. Other advancements include active lane assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic congestion assist, traffic sign alert, rear cross traffic alert (for when you are backing out of a parking space) and accident mitigation technology.

The 2017 A4 is available in a choice of three trims. The base price is $46,000 (including freight and pdi) — with a top price in the low $60K mark.

New BMW shines

Birchwood BMW is expecting great things from the completely redesigned 2016 750i xDrive which arrived at the dealership earlier this year. “BMW has reinvented the luxury model with the new 750i,” says Birchwood BMW sales rep Tony Tarnowski. “The front grille automatically opens and closes depending on speed, wind resistance and engine temperature. And if the doors aren’t fully closed, they will close by themselves.”

Tarnowski points out the new model is much more carbon fibre in its construction, so the vehicle is noticeably lighter which improves performance. The 750i’s twin-turbo V-8 has more power than its predecessor, putting out 450hp. Tarnowski reports drivers have a choice of a 2016 model with a standard wheelbase or a slightly longer wheelbase. The longer wheelbase provides more legroom in the rear.

The new exterior looks fantastic. You will find BMW’s new Gesture Control system, which recognizes five different gestures for controlling such functions as radio tuning and volume, navigation and phone calls. The entertainment and climate control system is operated via a tablet. Tarnowski also pointed out the optional Bowers and Wilkins surround-sound system which, he says, is unbelievable.

“One of the coolest features, is the model’s integrated camera angles so you can see other vehicles coming from any direction when you are backing out of a parking space. You can see your vehicle from the outside from all angles,” Tarnowski says.

The base price for the model is $113,900.

Tarnowski reports Birchwood BMW has sold several 2016 750i’s to this point and have a number still in stock.
