Piston Ring’s 42nd annual World of Wheels car show is just a week away.

This year the show will celebrate the grand opening of the newly renovated RBC Convention Centre and will feature more than 100,000 square feet of the finest vehicles in the land.

To get the weekend rolling Danny “The Count” Koker from the hit TV series Counting Cars will be appearing with his band Count’s 77 at 7 p.m. Friday night for a special kick-off concert.

In addition to more local vehicles on display than ever before, highlights of this year’s show will include special displays dedicated to antiques, customs, muscle cars, rods, bikes, trucks, and race vehicles.

These cars represent millions of dollars in investment and countless hours of craftsmanship and maintenance. Show-goers will have the opportunity to view more than 225 vehicles, many of which will be competing for prizes and points as part of the International Show Car Association sanctioned event. There will also be more than 60 exhibitors in attendance, offering automotive related products and services.

Harley-Davidson Winnipeg is also presenting the CycleRama Motorcycle Show in conjunction with World of Wheels, highlights will include a large display of new bikes and merchandise as well as a custom motorcycle show with more than 60 bikes on display. Basically, you’re getting two shows for the price of one ticket.

While the majority of the vehicles on display are owned by local cruisers, the show will also feature numerous vehicles from across Canada and the United States.

Look for a full preview of the show in next Friday’s Free Press Autos. Until then, here’s a sneak peek at a few local rides entered in Piston Ring’s 42nd annual World of Wheels
