Thanks to local auto dealer Trevor Nott, Winnipeg is Tesla central. Nott, the founder of Nott Autocorp — which specializes in high-end nearly new luxury vehicles — is Tesla’s only lease and finance agent in the Prairies.
“We are the exclusive leasing and financing agent for new and used Teslas coming into Canada through Nott Autocorp’s Luxury Leasing Canada division,” says Nott. “We provide the appraisals for all the Teslas that enter the country. The models are in excellent condition and there is really good demand.”
Currently, Nott Auotcorp has one Model S — a 2014 edition — for sale in its showroom at 1322 Waverley St. (at the corner of McGillvray Boulevard). The sale price is $90,000. “I originally bought the Model S for my own driving use,” says Nott. “It’s an incredible vehicle. Anyone who loves cars has to drive a Tesla. There is no going back once you’ve tried it. The technology is incomparable.”
Nott says he was at the launch in April of Tesla’s new SUV, the Model X. “I have a model on order,” he says. “It will be the first one in Canada.” Nott Autocorp is also taking orders for the Model 3, which is at least two years away from delivery. Nott reports there are already 400,000 pre-orders.
Nott Autocorp’s newly-opened service centre is equipped to service Tesla models along with all other makes and models. The 1,000 square-foot facility has eight service bays and one wash bay and is loaded with all the latest equipment, including high-tech diagnostic software and a 3D alignment machine.
While customers are waiting for their vehicles, they can enjoy Nott’s full-body massage chairs, ping pong, foosball, standup video games, watch the big-screen TV or view the artwork for sale courtesy of Nott’s partnership with Gurevich Fine Art.
The new service centre has six technicians and is led by relatively new service manager Jordan Herrera. Herrera has worked in service for several other auto-dealer groups before joining Nott a few months ago. Herrera also manages the Reset Interactive Ultralounge on Pembina Highway in the evenings. He describes the establishment as “Chucky Cheese for adults.”
“I have always worked two jobs,” he says. (Incidentally, his parents operate the cafeteria located in the Free Press building.)
Herrera is assisted in his work by Ashley Tamoto, the store’s new (since March) customer-service concierge. “I book appointments, arrange shuttle service and help customers in whatever way I can,” she says. If the Tamoto name seems familiar to readers, that is because Ashley’s father, Glen, had a long history with the Birchwood Auto Group. For more than 25 years, Glen Tamoto managed several different Birchwood stores and service departments. He retired from the auto industry about 18 months ago.
Nott Autocorp also has an interesting new sales rep in Peter Field. Field was a customer of Nott Autocorp before becoming a sales rep. Field and his family came to Winnipeg from Scotland 11 years ago after (for him) a 24-year career in the British military. “I was looking for a better life for my family,” he says. He worked as a truck driver for a number of years and more recently in the oilfields in Saskatchewan. He had been off work for a number of months due to injury when Nott Autocorp general sales manager Barry Swain invited him to join the sales staff.
Nott Autocorp has been in business for 10 years and has customers right across Canada.
Winnipeg Honda sales stars
Dylan Foui and his support team at Winnipeg Honda continue to set new sales records year after year.
In 2015, the 34-year-old sales star recorded just under 1,000 sales, once again making him the top-selling Honda sales associate in Canada, and most likely, the top-selling car sales rep in Canada.
“I have reached the point where my team and I do more business in a year than some smaller Honda stores,” Foui says. “We have become essentially a dealership within a dealership.”
Foui and his team (which consists of team manager Jeremy Sturby, Dustin Davie, James Le and Lucky Sharma) occupy their own wing of the south Winnipeg Honda store, have their own delivery pod and their own dedicated service technician in Graham Loughrin. “My team members do everything from top to finish, and are there to keep our team running smoothly,” Foui says.
Foui has been the leading Honda sales rep for Manitoba almost from the beginning of his career in auto sales in March, 2004. He was managing a fitness store when a friend encouraged him to try auto sales. He quickly shot to the top of the class and credits Don Saranchuk, Winnipeg Honda’s vice-president and general manager at the time, with giving him the training that built the basis for his success in sales. “Don was a great mentor,” says Foui.
Foui also praises Ashok Dilawri, the founder of the Dilawri Auto Group (Winnipeg Honda is one of 10 auto dealerships in Winnipeg the Dilawri Auto Group operates) for his support. Winnipeg Honda general manager Brent Sayles has also helped Foui achieve his monumental sales targets.
Foui credits the great deals he gives customer, as well as top-notch customer service for his success. The team’s goal for 2016 is to sell 1,100 vehicles. “So far, we are on target,” he says.
Mazda Sales Star Comes Out on Top Again
Congratulations also to Crown Mazda’s Wes Giesbrecht for once again earning ranking in Mazda Canada’s Elite Division as one of the country’s top-selling sales reps. Last year was the sixth year in a row that Giesbrecht finished as one of Mazda Canada’s top 20 sales reps (out of about 200). The top 20 were recognized at a gala evening in their honour in Quebec City on March 22.
