Mercedes-Benz Winnipeg has once again earned the carmaker’s Canadian award for star dealer of the year.
“We are the first Mercedes-Benz dealer in Canada to earn this honour three years in a row,” says Roger Man, the Winnipeg dealership’s general sales manager.
The award is based on sales targets combined with customer service ratings.
“Our sales were up 20 per cent year over year last year,” Man reports.
New look GLC43 and E43 models for 2017
In other Mercedes-Benz Winnipeg news, the Kenaston Street luxury dealer welcomed an all-new AMG E43 sedan and a refreshed AMG GLC43 to the showroom in early January.
The dealership’s brand ambassador, Dirk Southern, says the features that stand out on the new-look 2017 GLC crossover include a diamond grille, a more aggressive-looking exhaust and multi-spoke staggered tires.
The biggest change in the 2017 model is the standard Airmatic suspension that automatically raises or lowers the vehicle as required, Southern adds.
The 2017 GLC43 also comes with more horsepower and a choice of engines. For the previous model year, only a 2-litre, 4 cylinder was available for the crossover model. For the new model, drivers have the option of a 3L twin-turbo V-6 which puts out 362 horsepower and 384 lb.-ft. of torque.
Customers appreciate the model’s plush interior, Southern says. Options include a stitched leatherette dashboard, heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, head-up display, 360-degree parking camera emergency autonomous braking, lane-keeping assist, and online navigation with apps, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
There are several new colour choices for 2017 and several option packages.
The base price for the GLC43 is $59,900 (plus freight and PDI).
“We have had a good response to the new GLC43,” Southern says. “I myself have already sold a couple.”
The AMG E43 sedan is a brand new entry for 2017 complete with starry grille, aggressive-looking cooling outlets and 19-inch tires.
The model is powered by a 3L V-6 twin-turbo engine that produces 401 hp and 384 lb.-ft. of torque.
Inside, Southern notes, drivers can choose from among 60 different ambient light options. You also will find a 12.3-inch central display screen with console-mounted control knob and touchpad.
Safety features include adaptive cruise control with forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking (standard) along with lane-keeping assist and Drive Pilot, which steers the car for up to 60 seconds before an alarm reminds you to put your hands on the wheel.
The new E43 starts at $79,900 (plus freight and pdi), Southern says.
“We have only one on our lot right now but hope to be receiving a few more soon,” he adds. “We have had a lot of interest in the model. In Europe, the E43 has been voted Best Car in its Class.”
