Audi Winnipeg recently hosted a gala evening at FastAir’s hangar at Richardson International Airport — to introduce six new models.
“Because we had so many exciting new models to introduce, we felt we needed a lot more space to properly showcase them,” says Audi Winnipeg general sales manager Rory Egan.
“This was also a customer appreciation evening. It was a nice evening with the refreshments, the entertainment and the backdrop of several private luxury jets. People were happy to be part of the event. They were impressed with the venue and with our new models. It was fun.”
The new models on display were the Q5, S4, A5, SS Sportback, SQ5 and the turbo-charged V-6 R8 Spyder.
“We started up the Spyder so people could hear the engine,” Egan says.
He describes the Spyder as representing “the pinnacle of Audi engineering.” It features a new interior, makes 540 horsepower and reaches a top speed of 318 kilometres an hour. Egan reports the R8 Spyder sells for $206,300.
“We are getting three Spyders this year and we have already sold one of them,” he says.
The S5 Sportback has been available in Europe for several years but is new to North America. The 2018 model combines sportiness with practicality. The model also boasts an updated version of Audi’s patented Quattro AWD system. The S5 Sportback is powered by a DOHC three-litre single-turbo V-6 that produces 354 hp and 369 pound-feet of torque.
The Q5, Egan reports, has been Canada’s top selling luxury SUV. The 2018 version has a new grille, LED headlights and front fenders. The 2018 Q5 is also almost 200 pounds lighter and slightly larger than its predecessor. The 2018 model is powered by a two-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 252 hp and 272 lb.-ft. of torque. The model is also equipped with Audi’s latest Quattro AWD system with Ultra technology.
“Audi has gone to great effort to make the 2018 Q5 the ideal vehicle for Manitoba drivers,” Egan says. The MSRP for the Q5 is $44,950; fully loaded, it sells for $54,200.
Mercedes-Benz staff recognized
Congratulations to Mercedes-Benz Winnipeg general sales manager Roger Man and sales representative Wei Chen, who both earned inclusion in the Mercedes-Benz President’s Circle — a distinction that recognizes the manufacturer’s top sales consultants and top managers across Canada. The honour is based on sales results and customer service. It was the second time Chen has earned the accolade and the first time for Man.
